The Ugly Truth About "The Big Chop"

Being a black woman is exhausting. Within our community and outside of the circle.
Tiffany Haddish did The Big Chop on Instagram Live a few days ago. And everyone gasped. Is she mentally unstable? Let's pray for our girl. And then remarks of how unattractive she looked comparing her appearance to men.
Well chopping off all of your hair isn't always pretty.
I've been natural for maybe 6 or 7 years.
The first time I big chopped I thought it was something that I really wanted to do.
After joining natural hair groups, running through YouTube I thought I was ready. Unfortunately the day I decided to cut my hair I was having a manic episode.
I grabbed the scissors and just started cutting. When I was done I was a patchy ass mess. I went to bed in tears. When I woke up I asked my husband was it true that I cut my hair off and he looked at me agitated as hell and said yes. I called off of work, again in tears.
I went to a woman barber to fix my hair. I called and asked for a big chop to cut off all of my remaining relaxed hair. To my surprise she had no idea what I was talking about. My delusion that all black women knew about the "Big Chop."
She shaped me up and it was still ugly as hell. I cried some more.
I went to a male barber and told him to even it up. Embarrassed that I was in a barber shop with all men, as they questioned me about why I would cut my hair. What was my man's thoughts. And how they wouldn't allow their woman to do this.

Over the next year I went through phases  like going through puberty all over again. Growing into my looks. So many awkward phases.
Its doesn't help when society is bashing your journey. I remember how insecure I felt each month that my hair grew. The stares and questions I would get. People saying I thought you would have good hair.
The shame I felt because I didn't know how to even care for these new "unmanageable" strands growing from my scalp. So I dyed it hoping it would make me feel prettier. Make my hair more acceptable.
I've been on this journey for years now.
I've big chopped 4 times shaved and embraced all of the stages. Wasted money on "Natural hair" products.
Had failed Bantu knots and twistouts.
And am still learning to love my kinks and coils.
I wish that we could embrace and I mean truly love our sisters and ourselves the way we say we love them.
There is a lot of growth as to how we judge each others looks.
We still don't like black features, black hair, or black vernacular.

My Ruggable

So if you have been rug shopping lately I'm sure you've heard of Ruggable.
You see it on Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube. It's a new craze of washable rug systems.
The Ruggable comes in two parts. The Ruggable Rug Pad and the Cover.
With so many styles it was very hard for me to make my decision, I actually had the rug in my shopping cart for weeks!!!
After a few online poles I decided on the Ayana Leopard Print rug.

Step 1
Roll out the Ruggable Rug Pad

Rug Pad

The Rug Pad is almost like a velcro that the cover adheres to. It is so easy to install.

Step 2
Lay the Rug Cover onto the Pad
Ensuring to flatten out any wrinkles.

That's It!!

So Simple.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Who has taken advantage of the quarantine sales? The first day into the "lockdown" I aimlessly browsed online shops looking for a score. Then my fingertips found I was led by their 60% off sale which is still going on. One of my favorite purchases was this Patchwork dress which is now sold out!!!

I already had the perfect pair of earrings to match the dress. Some evil eye tassel earrings that I got from Aliexpress. Evil Eye Earrings

Don't miss out on the opportunity to indulge yourself just a little during this time. Stay safe and Happy Shopping.

Rock The New Year

So New Years day is a day a way. I'm cutting it close but I wanted to give you ladies a few ideas to slay into the 20's

SEQUINS. New Years is like an adult Halloween for me. It's a time to show up and show out.

I paired a sequined bustier and sequined pants. And added a Blazer to tie the look together

Champagne toasts and New Year kisses.
Velvet and sequin for this look.
A velvet bustier from Tj maxx paired with striped leggings and a sequin blazer. This look may be to revealing for some and just right for others.

This was actually one of my favorite looks
I've had this long blazer coat for a little over a year that I thrifted and had yet to wear it. Paired with silk shorts and and sparkle booties to take the look to the next level.

This blouse is absolutely stunning. I love anything that stands out. These tassels are so fun paired with satin slacks

I wore this jumper like 3 years ago and it's still one of my faves. It gives sexy 70's vibes.

Hopefully these looks give you some inspiration on what to wear to bring in the Slaying 20's.
Let me know what's your favorite look.

Luxe Style: Grand Opening of Darling Dior.

I love fashion and there is no greater experience than shopping in a ultra glam setting.
My friend Yatavia Hester held her grand opening of her Beauty Bar: Darling Dior located at 10510 W. Jefferson Ave. River Rouge, MI 48218 yesterday May 14, 2016. If you're in the Metro Detroit area I definitely recommend you pay Darling Dior a visit.

The first of its kind in the area.
I think it is such an inspiration that she chose the area for her store. It shows a revitalization to the area and a need as there are not a lot of places for people in the area to shop for clothing in an upscale location.

The store is very open and inviting, it was such a upbeat atmosphere, there was live music complementary champagne and tons of excitement from everyone who came to the event.

There were so many cute pieces to choose from. Jeans, blouses, dresses, handbags, shoes, and jewelry. There is truly something for everyone.

Not only does Darling Dior sell upscale clothing they have two lash extension technicians .
